BRS has a 24-hour Student Health Center that is staffed by a full time nurse who is assisted by other medical professionals. The purpose of the infirmary is to oversee the health and well-being of all students and staff members, evaluate health concerns, assess medical concerns and emergencies, provide routine medical care and dispense necessary medications according to physicians’ orders. Medications are passed four times daily during non school hours. The Student Health Center partners with Group RX to facilitate needed medications and refills. The infirmary has two sick bays and can accommodate up to eight students at any given time. Sick or injured students are admitted to the infirmary when around-the- clock care is needed or they are contagious to other students or faculty.
The infirmary is able to network with physicians to set up needed appointments, specialized tests or to fill prescriptions. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am-8pm. During non operational hours, students may report to teachers, dorm parents or the duty captain who will then contact the nurse and make arrangements for the student to be evaluated. There is an answering machine and a paging system to facilitate communication during non operational hours.
Parents may reach the Student Health Center through the school switch board or directly at (434) 985-2787.
