Blue Ridge School Code of Conduct

This Code defines what we hope every adult and young man affiliated with Blue Ridge School to be and to do.  The Code is twofold; the first section describes the School’s Honor Code, and the second section describes the core values of our community.  Our Code is posted in every classroom and throughout the campus to inspire the community to always do right in thought and in action.

Honor and Accountability

Be honest with yourself and with others
Be your Brother’s Keeper
Think before you act
Do your own work
Accept responsibility for your actions
Keep your word
Earn trust by being trustworthy
Earn others’ respect by respecting yourself, them, their property and other property that does not belong to you

Seize the Moment

Be open to opportunity
Be willing to make new friends
Participate in school activities
Be willing to take risks and try new things

Attitude

Be positive; focus on solutions to problems
Take pride in yourself and in our School
Develop self-control and self-discipline
Strive for excellence in every facet of life
Work hard; persevere through adversity; triumph over challenge

Golden Rule

Treat other people the way you want to be treated
Respect the privacy of others
Be courteous, fair, compassionate, kind and caring
Accept and respect differences in others

Citizenship

Play by the rules
Place the welfare of the community above your own
Respect the health and safety of others
Be a good steward for our campus
Display good sportsmanship as players, as coaches and as spectators

Lifestyle

Develop habits of mind, body and spirit that will challenge and enrich you
Develop a zeal for learning
Eat right, exercise, get enough rest and maintain good personal hygiene
Keep your personal space clean, orderly and in good taste

"Blue Ridge has truly changed my life in so many positive ways. When I came to Blue Ridge, I had low self-esteem and my grades were mediocre. Over my past four years, I've had much academic success and I'm confident that I can do anything I set my mind to. Blue Ridge is truly a special place."
