We lead by example.

Franck Germain

Franck Germain {Student leader and free spirit}

Blue Ridge has definitely made me a more well-rounded student. Being a scholar has always been a goal of mine, but Blue Ridge has also allowed me to participate in activities I most likely would never have had the opportunity to partake in. This includes playing a supporting role in a school musical, being a member of the football team, and recording and producing music in the tech lab. I had never been in any sort of art performance before my arrival at Blue Ridge. I've always had a “why-not” mentality. But, there were no opportunities like that in my hometown of Atlanta. I was attending a public school with a thousand kids, which isn’t as personal, you know? Blue Ridge is a small school, so everyone has a bond and it’s like family. Here, you are encouraged to test yourself and you trust the guys.

Becoming a proctor at Blue Ridge has enhanced my leadership ability as I've realized that there are many students looking to me for guidance. This has made me a more accountable and reliable person.

Music has always been an extension of my passion for art. I think it’s made me more of a renaissance man. I enjoy being a part of a team and making/listening/watching any form of art performance, such as music and theater. I go from class to the tech lab to the football field…It’s just a typical day at Blue Ridge. Very full.

Franck is a leader who can be assertive while still being respectful to others. He is smart with a positive attitude and in class he is always a reliable and creative contributor. He is willing to work hard outside the classroom as well, and right now we are practicing a short play. He jumped in with such gusto, and now is singing and taking on the challenge to lead other kids. He is a role model for many of his peers and relishes the assignments given. He is serious about his work without being a nerd—he’s a natural leader.

I can always count on Franck. He is responsible for many things and handles it all. He's great to be around because he's such a positive minded person. Nothing gets him down. We like to take advantage of all the trails on campus by mountain biking on our mountain trails and taking on the outdoors with hikes in our free time. This kind of commitment you take on with someone who’s going to make it worthwhile. That’s Franck.

Franck is really intelligent and isn't afraid of learning and trying something new any time. I don't think I’ve ever hung out with him and didn't leave laughing my lungs out and that is why he is one of my closest friends in this school. Still, he is definitely considerate and funny. I don’t remember how we became friends—because it seems as though we always were. I was in a British school before and when I finished my exams I decided to go to school in the US. That’s when I found Blue Ridge School. I was born in Rwanda but grew up in South Africa. I’ve lived in a lot of different countries. Franck is a good example of why Blue Ridge works well. They welcome you like family from day one.
