Emily Boardman

Fishburne Learning Center, ELL teacher

Emily is a proud Pittsburgh native and Penn State alum who’s spent the last 20 years soaking up the sunshine, mountains, and history of Virginia. She’s taught in England and across diverse Virginia communities, both in classrooms and online, and is Orton-Gillingham trained with a heart for helping all students learn.
Married and a mother to three lively boys, Emily is especially passionate about teaching boys—embracing their energy, curiosity, and unique ways of learning. When she’s not teaching, she’s likely reading (at least 50 books a year!), hiking, or exploring small towns with her family. A favorite adventure? Hiking all 20 miles of the Rivanna Trail in 2020.

Emily and her crew are excited to join the BRS community—a place where strong values, great role models, and a deep sense of belonging truly matter.
