Blue Ridge School’s JV and Varsity Basketball teams both won the 2016-2017 Virginia Independent Conference (VIC) Championship in a tournament held at Roanoke College on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
Varsity defeated Miller School in overtime 66-57. This was the fourth time the Barons faced Miller this season. JV beat Virginia Episcopal School 44-29.
Coach Cade Lemcke was named VIC Coach of the Year, senior Josh Colon was named VIC Basketball Player of the Year, Darius McGhee ’18, Aamir Simms ’17 and Josh Colon were named first team all-conference, and Sardaar Calhoun ’18 was named second team all-conference.

In addition to Blue Ridge School, the VIC includes Eastern Mennonite High School, Holy Cross School, Carlisle School, Fishburne Military School, Roanoke Catholic School, Covenant School, Hargrave Military Academy, Miller School and Virginia Episcopal School.
