Musician, author and race-relations activist Daryl Davis spoke with Blue Ridge School students and faculty on Thursday, September 21, in the School’s auditorium.
Mr. Davis is known for his documentary Accidental Courtesy (http://accidentalcourtesy.com/) in which he talks about his conversations with Ku Klux Klan members, many of whom have resigned from the Klan after befriending him.
In response to the events this past August in Charlottesville, Headmaster Trip Darrin announced that the School community this year would place even greater emphasis on a culture of consideration. Mr. Davis’ address as well as his taking time to answer several questions from the students set a positive tone for this emphasis.
Additional culture-of-consideration programs and activities will follow.
