Internet Safety

Battle House at Blue Ridge School

Internet safety is one of Blue Ridge School’s top priorities.

On Friday, October 27, Director of Technology Wayne Peterson will review network agreement, Internet filtering and management, and bullying and cyberbullying awareness in Jessup Auditorium at 2PM. This session is scheduled during Parent Weekend and is open to all.

During the session, Mr. Peterson will review the components of the Blue Ridge School Internet Safety Policy,  the Network and Internet Agreement signed and dated by students and parents (or the student’s advisor) on the first day of school.

This September, the students heard a presentation by a representative of the Office of the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia in which the students heard an overview of cyberbullying, Internet security and responsible social media use.  This event was required of all students.

In addition, the School uses CIPA compliant Internet monitoring and filtering through our Fortinet firewall/UTM package.

Internet safety is also addressed in class activities including a focus on plagarism, cyberbullying and the responsible use of the Internet and social media.
