Battle House at Blue Ridge School

For the first time in School history, the Blue Ridge School track team won the VIC Championship on Saturday, May 13, with a score of 160.  The meet included Eastern Mennonite School (102) Hargrave Military Academy (93), Virgnia Episcopal School (57), Fishburne Military School (39) and Roanoke Catholic School (38). Head Coach Jerry Jared was named VIC Coach of the Year. The team’s season record is 21-3.

STATE TRACK MEET: The Barons finished in 10th place for teams in Division 1 of the VISAA State Championship Track Meet on May 20 in Richmond.  Darius McGhee was second in the high jump and jumped 6 feet 6 inches. Elijah Gordon was 2nd in the 100 with a time of 10.86.  He had the top time in the preliminaries at 10.79.  Franck Germain was 7th in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 16.76. “This was our highest finish as a team since 2012 when we finished in 9th place,” says Coach Jared.

Second Team: Franck Germain ‘18, Aaron Aldridge ‘17, Aamir Simms ‘17, Katiso Tlelima ‘18

RESULTS:
Elijah Gordon ’19 was first in the 100 meter dash (10.69), Aaron Aldridge was second (11.20) and Sardaar Calhoun was fifth (11.37). Elijah also won the 200 meter dash (23.10), Aaron Aldridge was second (23.48) and Josh Colon was fifth (24.63).

BRS also won the 4×100 meter relay (Myles Jones ’18, Naz Hopson ’17, Zach Wood ’20 and Taku Endo ’18) with a time of 44.27.

Taku also won the 400 meter dash (54.29) and Naz finished second (56.40).

Zach Wood, Naz Hopson, Myles Jones and Taku Endo won the 4×400 meter relay as well (3:50.89).

Franck Germain ’18 was second in the 110 meter hurdles and Souley Sylla ’18 was third in the 300 meter hurdles.

Darius McGhee ’18 won the long jump (20-05.00), Josh Colon was third (18′ 10”) and Katiso Tlelima was sixth (17′ 09″). Katiso was second in the triple jump (38′ 9″) and Josh Colon was sixth (35′ 8″).

In the high jump, Darius won with 5′ 08″ and Dhruv Mehrotra ’19 was fifth at 5′ 2″.

Aamir Simms ’17 was second in the shot put (37′ 7.5″).
