At Blue Ridge School, we encourage each boy to discover his potential and grow into a well-rounded young man. Our atmosphere of support and camaraderie, along with our comprehensive offering of programs, gives boys the opportunity to try new things both in and out of the classroom.
Our Academic Program is based on a boy-centric model. We know that boys learn best when they’re engaged and interactive – and thus every aspect of the experience is tailored to ensure an optimal learning environment.
The Fishburne Learning Center provides an extra level of support that some boys require, yet is a resource that every boy at Blue Ridge School can access, helping them become a better student and contributor in the classroom.
We understand that preparing our boys for college is the ultimate goal Blue Ridge School. Our College Counseling Program prepares boys for college and helps guide them through the application process with as much or as little support as they require.
Character Education is a program that is instrumental in ensuring that each boy moves into the world as a “man of character.” Although there are specific aspects of the curriculum that focus on Character Education, such as community service, the opportunity of building character in each boy truly permeates every aspect of the Blue Ridge School experience.
Blue Ridge School’s unique setting on nearly 750 acres at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains ensures the school’s Outdoor Program is like no other. Boys can take advantage of outdoor afternoon activities, weekend trips and even outdoorsmen classes.
A diverse student population is important to the Blue Ridge School experience. For our international students, the English Language Learners Program (ELL) is instrumental in helping each boy assimilate into American culture and hone their English skills in preparation for attending an American college or university.
An all-boys school wouldn’t be complete without a robust Athletics Program. With over 20 athletic teams, a boy may try sports he has never had a chance to try in another school environment. And most importantly perhaps, it is another opportunity to develop their leadership and teamwork skills for life.
Together, all of these unique yet complementary programs facilitate learning and exploration. The success and self-discovery young men can achieve through involvement in these various programs is what makes a Blue Ridge School education an invaluable asset for a lifetime.
The Groves Family Legacy Tuition Program honors Robert W. “Bobby” Groves III ’67 and his family. Bobby and his wife Anne were the first alumni parents to enroll a child at BRS. Their son Billy graduated in 1995 and their nephews Johnson and Robert Stevens were equally successful here, graduating in 2003 and 2006, respectively.
Blue Ridge is incredibly proud of this legacy and for the sterling example that Bobby and his family have set.
