The Baron Athletic Complex (BAC) has renewed and transformed Blue Ridge School's athletic facilities.
Comprised of nine important facilities which were constructed in two phases, the BAC impacts literally every student on campus serving lacrosse, football, soccer, track, baseball and golf.
Phase One was completed in September 2015 and includes a new artificial turf playing field, a new six-lane competitive track, as well as new parking and public areas. This facility has been built on the site of the original "rock pile" football field adjacent to Massey Gymnasium.
Ground breaking for Phase One was March 27th, 2015.
Phase Two was completed in November 2016 and includes a new golf practice facility, significant improvements to the baseball diamond, two new raised grass soccer fields, and fencing along Bacon Hollow Road.
We are delighted to report that as of February 7, 2017, more than $2.7 million in commitments has been secured thus exceeding the $2.675 million needed to complete both phases. All of this was made possible through the generosity of 225 supporters and a longtime partner of BRS who came forward with an incredibly generous challenge, matching every new gift 1:2 to help bring the BAC across the finish line in 2016.
We are ever grateful to all who have invested in this worthwhile project - we cannot THANK YOU enough!

"AS A HISTORY TEACHER, I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT FOR MY STUDENTS TO SEE THE PLACES THAT WE SPEND SO MUCH TIME TALKING ABOUT IN THE CLASSROOM. IT WOULD BE A SHAME NOT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL THE HISTORICAL SITES AROUND US IN CENTRAL VIRGINIA; THE ANNUAL FUND MAKES DOING SO POSSIBLE."
– PETER BONDS, HISTORY TEACHER
