On May 20th 2017, the Blue Ridge School Alumni Council charted a new course in order to align itself closer to the Board of Trustees’ mission and the 2020 Strategic Plan. The Council changed its name to the Alumni Leadership Council and adopted other changes to improve communication between the two groups and allow the Alumni Leadership Council to take a more strategic approach in support of the School.
This new council will be chaired by Brooks Minford ’09 (pictured left) and will include Burke Earley ’86, Morgan McNeel ’87, Mark Dreux ’94, Parker Douglass ’98, Andrew Genova ’03 and Matt Harris ’04. Each one of these council members brings a wealth of knowledge, business acumen, experience and integrity to the council.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mitchell Rue ’81, noted that he was pleased to see the Blue Ridge School Alumni Association and the new Alumni Leadership Council headed in such a positive direction.
“I am very energized by the council’s new charter, approach and attitude going into the 2017/2018 fiscal year and look forward to our close working relationship. This is a time of prosperity for the School and a time to build upon the great work that is already happening on campus. It will take discipline, organization and a good bit of inter-teamwork to formulate a sustainable long term plan, but I am confident this new council will serve the School well.”
Alumni Leadership Council Chairman Brooks Minford ’09 noted that he is looking forward to this opportunity, while also improving relationships with Blue Ridge School alumni around the world.
“I want to make it a priority for the council to increase alumni involvement with the School. This can come in various forms, including financial gifts, attendance at alumni events throughout the year, but also in the form of a professional network where established alumni can connect with recent graduates for job placement opportunities. The general goal of alumni involvement is to make the entire alumni network feel more inclusive and to take advantage of the many successful alumni that we have around the world,” writes Brooks.
