Blue Ridge School is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Carroll as the school’s new Head Baseball Coach, bringing to St. George a wealth of experience spanning professional baseball, collegiate athletics, player development, and scouting.
Carroll joins Blue Ridge after serving as an amateur scouting assistant with the Boston Red Sox organization, where he assisted area scouts in evaluating players and preparing for the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft. His career reflects more than two decades of experience developing players at every level of the game, from high school and collegiate baseball to professional organizations and Major League Baseball scouting.
“We are excited to welcome Todd to Blue Ridge,” said Head of School Trip Darrin, P’29. “His experience, leadership, and commitment to developing young men make him an outstanding fit for our community and mission.”
Athletic Director Parker Kirwan echoed that enthusiasm.
“Coach Carroll has succeeded at every level of the game, from collegiate baseball to professional organizations,” Kirwan said. “We’re thrilled to have someone with his experience and passion leading our baseball program and mentoring our student-athletes.”
Most recently, Carroll served as Pitching Coach for the Falmouth Commodores of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League, widely regarded as the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the country. There, he managed a coaching staff filled with future professional players and top MLB prospects while helping prepare some of the nation’s best collegiate athletes for the next level.
Carroll’s collegiate coaching résumé is highlighted by a highly successful tenure at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he served as Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. During his time with the Engineers, MIT captured three conference championships and earned five NCAA Tournament appearances. His recruiting efforts produced the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class in 2014, according to Perfect Game, and he helped develop numerous award-winning players, including NCAA Rookie of the Year recipients and future professional draft selections.
His accomplishments at MIT earned him the prestigious Kevin Burr New England College Baseball Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2015, recognizing him as the top assistant coach across all three NCAA divisions in New England. Under his leadership, MIT’s pitching staffs consistently ranked among the nation’s best in key statistical categories, helping elevate the program to unprecedented success.
Carroll also brings extensive professional baseball experience. From 2022 to 2024, he served as a Minor League Pitching Coach in the Seattle Mariners organization, working with professional athletes from around the world at the club’s Arizona and Dominican Republic training complexes. Several pitchers he coached have already advanced to Major League Baseball.
His connection to professional scouting extends even further. Early in his career, Carroll worked as an Associate Scout for Major League Baseball’s Scouting Bureau, evaluating players and filing reports used by all 30 MLB organizations.
Throughout his coaching career, Carroll has helped develop players at some of the country’s most respected institutions, including Harvard University, the University of Massachusetts Boston, Salem Community College, and numerous elite summer baseball programs. His combination of coaching expertise, recruiting success, player development experience, and professional scouting background provides Blue Ridge student-athletes with a unique opportunity to learn from a coach who understands every level of the game.
“I am thrilled to take over the baseball program at Blue Ridge,” says Carroll. “The community has been really invested in our success already. I look forward to working with our coaching staff to help Blue Ridge students and athletes become the best version of themselves on and off the field while pursuing championship banners to add to the ones from other sports at Blue Ridge.”
As Blue Ridge continues to build upon its tradition of athletic excellence, Carroll’s arrival signals an exciting new chapter for the Barons baseball program. His experience helping players reach collegiate and professional opportunities, combined with his passion for teaching and leadership, will provide Blue Ridge athletes with exceptional guidance both on and off the field.
Blue Ridge School looks forward to welcoming Coach Carroll to campus and seeing the impact he will make on the baseball program and the broader school community.
