Blue Ridge School Welcomes Jeffrey J. Mullins as Head Baseball Coach
Blue Ridge School is pleased to welcome Jeffrey J. Mullins as its new head baseball coach, bringing to campus an accomplished leader whose career has combined distinguished military and government service with more than two decades of experience developing young athletes.
A retired U.S. Army officer and seasoned attorney, Coach Mullins has spent more than 25 years leading teams, advising senior officials, and managing complex organizations across the Department of Justice and the U.S. military. His public service has included roles as Deputy Director for the Office for Access to Justice, Assistant General Counsel for the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, Senior National Security Legal Advisor, and a senior Judge Advocate General’s Corps officer responsible for training and mentoring military attorneys.
For more than two decades, Mullins has also found his leadership calling on the baseball field.
He has coached athletes at the travel, recreational, and high school levels, leading teams from multiple schools and communities to championship rounds and state-level competition. Along the way, he has served as a league vice president, head coach, and mentor, helping recruit and develop players while building programs grounded in discipline, teamwork, and character.
That combination of professional leadership and experience developing young athletes makes Mullins a natural fit for Blue Ridge School.
“We’re thrilled to get a coach operating on Jeff’s level, and not just related to baseball,” says Head of School Trip Darrin. “His military and governmental experience are unique, and offer the Blue Ridge School students an incredible opportunity to learn our national pastime from a man who has devoted his life both to our country and youth baseball.”
At Blue Ridge, Mullins will bring the same steady leadership and commitment to mentorship that have defined his career. His approach to coaching extends beyond the fundamentals of the game, emphasizing the habits and values that help young men grow both on and off the field.
Whether advising senior leaders through organizational change, mentoring military attorneys, or helping young baseball players reach their potential, Mullins has built his career around developing people.
That philosophy aligns closely with the mission of Blue Ridge School, where athletics are an important part of helping boys develop confidence, resilience, responsibility, and character.
Mullins and his wife, Jessica, are the proud parents of three sons, Jackson, Grant, and Harrison. Blue Ridge School looks forward to welcoming the Mullins family to campus and seeing the impact Coach Mullins will have on Blue Ridge baseball and the young men who play it.
